Formerly the winter residence of the Empress Elisabeth of Austria, Trauttmansdorff Castle is situated on the eastern side of Merano. The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle rank among the world’s most beautiful botanical gardens and encompass more than 80 garden landscapes from around the world. The sun-kissed Merano 2000 ski and hiking area extends across the plateau above the town and is a perfect place for active vacationers and families.
